Flat tire

I’m stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire.
Not to worry. I can guide you the process pretty easily, and it’ll be done within 15 minutes—less time than it usually takes for a tow to arrive. First, turn on the hazard lights. Then open the trunk and take out a spare tire. See that leverage pipe, jack, lug-nut wrench and flashlight over there. Let’s take those out…
Broken camera

My camera broke. Is it the battery?
We can do a few tests to make sure. I see that you already tried a brand new battery and that didn’t work. As a next step, we’re going to try replacing the memory card…
Water, water everywhere, and not a drop that’s hot

There’s no more hot water. What’s the issue?
It could be the water heater. Let’s take a look at it. Before replacing it, we need to make sure the thermocouple still works. It’s a simple, inexpensive repair that could save you a bundle.
Power outage

The power is out. Help.
OK, first we need to go to the fuse box. Do you know where that is? OK, great. And I see that the fuse on the bottom left has popped out. You simply need to press that one in, and you’re good to go.
Tough stains

My carpet is stained. How do I get it out?
Yeah, that stain looks pretty bad, but there are a few little tricks we use to get it out. The first thing we need to do is simply blot the spot with a dry towel. Rinse thoroughly with clean water, then blot again. Never scrub the carpet, or you risk ruining the carpet fibers or letting the spill soak through to the carpet pad. And then…
Decorating help

How do I hang up these holiday lights?
First, let’s locate the power sources nearest the roof line. It will probably be on the porch, as most houses do not have a power outlet near the roof. You’re going to need at least one good extension cord. Select an exterior cord which is compatible with your lights, and with the weather it will endure…
Lukewarm fridge

My refrigerator is no longer cold.
OK, so first, we need to check the temperature setting inside the refrigerator. It looks like it was accidentally set to a warmer setting. Let’s now switch it to colder and listen for the compressor to turn on.
Wall repair

There’s a hole in my wall.
Let’s gather our materials. You’ll need sandpaper, a putty knife, drywall patching compound (spackle or plaster), a wet sponge or spray bottle, paint and a paintbrush…
Clogged sink

The drain of my sink is clogged. What do I do?
It sounds like you tried Drano, and you tried plunging it, and none of that worked. The next step is using a snake. A snake is an item you can get your local Home Depot or Lowes. Once you’re at the store, you can call me back, and I’ll tell you the best one to get for your issue.
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire

My chimney is smoking.
This is an easy fix. It looks like you just need to open your flue. If you can turn on the light of your iPhone camera and reach in your fireplace, I can direct you where exactly it is. Then, you just need to open it.
Furniture setup

How do I put together this crib, bed, etc.?
I know this can be daunting, but it’s easier than it looks. First let’s lay out all the separated items in an organized way on the floor. Then, I want you to read me the first step of the instructions, and I’ll walk you through the process.
Stuck printer

My printer cartridge is stuck.
If you can point your iPhone to the carriage area and turn on the flashlight, I can see if the carriage is either obstructed or the mechanism is worn out and jammed. There could be some foreign objects or loose parts. (Kids are really good at poking all sorts of stuff into anything they can.)
Furniture repair

I broke a piece of furniture.
Oh, I see. You’re going to need a few supplies first. Let’s get some glue and a Phillips head screwdriver. If you have a putty knife, that would be great as well.
Television setup

I can’t program my TV. How do I get it to work?
OK. Let’s trouble shoot this problem together. First, let’s take a look at the brand of your TV and the remote control. I see it’s a Vizio. No worries. I can walk you through the programming. It’s pretty easy…
Running toilet

My toilet keeps running. What’s the deal?
Let’s lift the tank lid and look at it. Looks like the flapper is stuck open. Let’s reach in and close it with your hand. Now, if it keeps sticking, the chain might be catching on something or the flapper might be catching on the chain. Try threading the flapper chain through a plastic soda straw to prevent a long chain from getting stuck on things and preventing the flapper from seating properly.
Flickering light

This lightbulb keeps flickering.
There could be a short in the switch or it could be a wiring problem. First, we’ll try putting in a new bulb, and if that doesn’t work, then I’ll have to come down there in person. Before I do though, you can point your iPhone to the fuse box, so I know can identify which part to bring over.
